Turkey bowling alley worker dies after pin-setting machine accident

Melike Yeter, a 28-year-old employee at a bowling alley in Çorum, Turkey, has died following a mechanical accident. The incident occurred while Yeter was attempting to repair a malfunction in the pin-setting machinery. The heavy equipment struck her, causing severe injuries.

Although Yeter was initially treated and discharged from Hitit University Erol Olçok Training and Research Hospital, her condition deteriorated rapidly once she returned home. She was rushed back to the hospital, where medical staff discovered she was suffering from severe internal bleeding caused by a ruptured liver. Despite intensive care efforts, she could not be saved.

Authorities have arrested the 34-year-old owner of the entertainment center on charges of “causing death by negligence.” Investigations are also examining whether the worker was improperly pressured to perform maintenance duties. Additionally, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an inquiry into potential medical negligence regarding her premature discharge from the hospital.
