Collegiate athletics roundup: Ball State and Buffalo secure key victories

Various collegiate athletic competitions took place over the weekend, featuring significant results in football, volleyball, soccer, and hockey.

In football, Ball State secured a dramatic 32-31 overtime victory against Bowling Green, aided by a two-point conversion. Meanwhile, Toledo dominated Eastern Michigan with a 34-14 win, and Buffalo defeated UMass 25-18 in an overtime thriller.

In volleyball, Ball State swept Ohio 3-0, and Buffalo State achieved a 3-0 road sweep against SUNY Morrisville. Bryant University also won a five-set match against UAlbany.

Soccer and field hockey saw diverse outcomes, including a 1-1 draw in the Battle of I-75 between Bowling Green and Toledo women's soccer, a 2-0 victory for Tufts men's soccer over Bates, and a 3-1 field hockey win for MIT over Wheaton. Salisbury University men's soccer also played to a 1-1 draw against Penn State Abington.

In ice hockey, Maine defeated Rensselaer 3-1, while Niagara edged Bowling Green 2-1.
