Bowling Green State University hosts Ukiyo-e art exhibition
The Bowling Green State University School of Art is hosting an exhibition titled “Impressions of the Floating World” throughout October. The showcase features traditional Ukiyo-e-inspired woodblock art created by students and faculty during a summer study abroad program in Japan.
Displayed at the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery, the exhibition includes works produced by students under the guidance of Professor Ross Mazzupappa and Dr. Matthew Donahue. The event also features 50 artworks from the university's permanent collection, which are being presented to the public for the first time.
Additional programming includes a tea ceremony on October 9 in the Hiroko Nakamoto Gallery and demonstrations of contemporary Mokahonga (woodblock printing) by visiting artist M. Willy Garcia from October 22 to October 24. The exhibition is supported by the Fashion Merchandising and Product Development department, which is assisting with the display of traditional items such as kimonos.
