Boxer 8x8 armored vehicle receives new air defense module
The British Army is advancing its armored capabilities through the procurement of the Boxer 8x8 armored vehicle. A £2.8 billion contract was established to deliver 623 vehicles to support Armoured Brigade Combat Teams by the early 2030s. The Boxer is a modular 33-ton vehicle designed for various roles, including troop transport, ambulance, command, and specialist carrier functions.
At the DVD 2026 exhibition, Moog showcased a new specialist air defense mission module for the Boxer based on the Reconfigurable Integrated Weapons Platform (RIwP). This air defense configuration is designed to replace the aging Stormer vehicle and features a versatile armament including a 30mm cannon, a machine gun, 70mm rocket pods, and missile canisters such as the FIM-92 Stinger. The module is designed to preserve internal space for troops and allows for reloading under armor.
