Boxing champions Masuda and Iwata discuss recent title victories

World boxing champions Riku Masuda and Shoki Iwata participated in a WOWOW ‘Excite Match SP’ recording to discuss their recent title victories.

Masuda, the WBA world bantamweight champion, reflected on his decision victory over Daigo Higa. While acknowledging areas for improvement in defense and attack range, Masuda expressed a strong desire to face Seiya Tsutsumi next to prove his championship status.

Shoki Iwata, the WBC world light flyweight champion, discussed his successful first defense against Eric Buddyjo. Despite suffering his first professional knockdown during the fourth round, Iwata secured a TKO victory in the 11th round. He noted that body blows were effective in accumulating damage on his opponent.

During the event, Iwata also offered support and technical advice to Miyu Yamamoto, a former world wrestling champion making her professional boxing debut at age 52. Iwata praised her courage in pursuing a new challenge and suggested tactical adjustments regarding movement and punching.
