Boxing legend Patrizio Oliva to speak in Torre del Greco

Olympic gold medalist and former world champion Patrizio Oliva will participate in a special talk titled “Oltre il Ring: Patrizio Oliva lo sport come riscatto” at Palazzo Vallelonga in Torre del Greco on October 29. The event is part of the “Nativi Vesuviani” cultural series, curated by Gigi Di Luca, and is supported by the Banca di Credito Popolare as part of the national “è cultura!” festival.

Moderated by journalist Anna Maria Di Luca, the discussion will focus on boxing as a tool for social redemption, legality, and inclusion. Oliva will share insights from his career, which includes his 1980 Moscow Olympics gold medal and his professional titles in the super lightweight division. The talk aims to address contemporary issues such as youth distress and the role of sports in providing opportunities for growth and resilience.

Oliva, who currently serves as the National Youth Technical Manager for the Italian Boxing Federation, is also involved in cinema and theater. This appearance follows the preview of a biographical film about his life, “La promessa di Patrizio,” at the Alice nella Città festival.
