Boxmeer names roundabout for 50‑year Daags na de Tour cycling celebration

The municipality of Boxmeer inaugurated a new roundabout at the Burgemeester Verkuijlstraat‑Koorstraat intersection, naming it the “Daags na de Tour‑rotonde” to mark the 50th anniversary of the local cycling event.

Mayor Marieke Moorman said, “Some traditions deserve more than applause; they deserve a lasting place in our community,” highlighting the event’s role in drawing thousands of visitors since 1979. A commemorative plaque bearing the anniversary logo was presented to longtime organizer Pierre Hermans, while secretary Twan Poels also received thanks as both step down after 13 years of service.
