Boy dies after being struck by vehicle on BA-099 in Bahia

An 8-year-old boy, identified as Israel da Cruz Oliveira de Souza, died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the BA-099 highway, also known as Estrada do Coco, in the Arembepe section of Camaçari.

The accident occurred on the evening of Monday, September 7, during the Brazilian Independence holiday. According to the Bahia Military Highway Police (BPRv), officers responded to reports of a person lying on the road at km 23. Although medical teams provided initial assistance, the child succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The driver involved has been identified and referred to the Civil Police for legal proceedings. The 26th Territorial Police Station in Vila de Abrantes is handling the investigation to determine the specific circumstances of the collision.
