Boy George and Culture Club face PNE concert controversy

British musician Boy George and his band Culture Club are facing backlash ahead of their scheduled performance at the PNE’s 2026 Summer Night Concerts in September. The controversy stems from the release of an AI-assisted single, ‘We Will Dance Again,’ which contains lyrics expressing solidarity with Israel.

The PNE has confirmed receipt of complaints and refund requests from members of the public. However, a spokesperson for the venue stated there are no plans to cancel the event, citing a position of non-censorship and the principle of freedom of expression. The organization noted that the public is free to decide whether or not to purchase tickets.

Following the release of the single, Boy George reportedly withdrew from a production of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ at the London Palladium and parted ways with his record label manager. He has also stated he would dismiss any band members who refuse to perform the new track.
