Boy George faces platform ban and management split over AI song

Singer Boy George is facing professional repercussions following the release of his song ‘We Will Dance Again’, which was produced using artificial intelligence. The music platform Bandcamp removed the track, citing its policy against music generated wholly or in substantial part by AI, and subsequently removed the artist’s entire profile from the service.

Boy George has disputed the platform's reasoning, accusing Bandcamp of hypocrisy by claiming that AI-assisted music is prevalent across the site. He further alleged that the removal was motivated by the song’s pro-Israel message, suggesting the platform ‘bowed to the pressure of antisemites’.

The controversy has had immediate professional consequences for the Culture Club singer. He has reportedly parted ways with his long-time manager, Tony Pont, and his involvement in a production of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ has been jeopardized following the backlash.
