Boy George quits label manager and musical role over pro‑Israel song

British singer Boy George released a reggae‑influenced track titled “We Will Dance Again” (Hebrew title “עוד נרקוד”), expressing support for Israel and referencing the Oct. 7 Hamas attack. The song, partly created with artificial‑intelligence assistance, includes lyrics such as “You say genocide, I say war.”

His label manager Tony Pontius, who ran the BGP record label, refused to release the track, calling it “gutless.” Boy George announced on social media that he had ended their professional relationship. The controversy also led him to withdraw from the West End production of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” where he was slated to play King Herod.

The release sparked mixed reactions, including praise from U.S. ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee and criticism from various artists and media outlets. The song remains unavailable on mainstream streaming platforms, with Boy George urging fans to purchase it via Bandcamp.
