Boy seriously injured in SUV collision near Cold Spring

An 11-year-old boy, Silas Baker, sustained serious injuries after being struck by an SUV on Tuesday afternoon near Cold Spring. The accident occurred around 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 50 and 158th Avenue.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, 24-year-old Lucy Thelen of Avon was traveling north on County Road 50 when Baker entered the roadway from 158th Avenue and was hit by the right side of the vehicle. Baker was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Authorities stated that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Following treatment at the scene, Baker was transported to St. Cloud Hospital for further care.
