Boyacá authorities launch organ donation and traffic safety initiatives

The Boyacá Health Secretariat has launched a call for hospitals and health institutions to present organ and tissue donation promotion campaigns. Part of the ‘Hospital Generador de Vida’ program, the initiative seeks to recognize strategies that foster solidarity and reduce transplant waiting lists in Colombia. According to the National Institute of Health, 965 transplants were performed in the country between January and September 2026, while 4,117 people remained on waiting lists as of September 30.

In Tunja, a new agreement between the municipal administration and the Boyacá Transit Institute (ITBOY) will deploy 36 additional traffic agents during November and December. The partnership involves an investment of 388 million pesos, with 300 million provided by ITBOY and over 88 million in kind from the municipality. These agents will support road regulation and safety operations during the high-mobility year-end season, working alongside the Tunja Metropolitan Police to monitor drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists, and pedestrians.
