Boyacá culture expands in Bogotá with new Festival Carranguero and Pueblito tourist site

Bogotá’s city council has approved the creation of an annual Festival Carranguero, intended to celebrate the carranga music and folk traditions of the Boyacá region. The festival, to be organized by the District Institute of Arts (Idartes), aims for a week‑long program of concerts, dance, artisan fairs and entrepreneurship promotion, with a target opening in early October 2026.

Separately, the Pueblito Boyacense, a replica village complex near Bogotá, offers visitors a condensed experience of Boyacá’s architecture, crafts and cuisine. Admission is 7,000 Colombian pesos per person (free for children under five), and a three‑hour bus trip from Bogotá costs about 40,000 pesos. The site operates daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., featuring restaurants, cultural events and tours of nearby attractions such as Paipa’s thermal complex.
