Judicial actions address administrative and human rights issues in Colombia and Chile

Various judicial and administrative actions are unfolding across Colombia and Chile involving public officials and human rights concerns.

In Colombia, a judge has demanded explanations from the Governor of Boyacá and the Mayor of Muzo regarding infrastructure progress at the San Marcos Educational Institution. Additionally, the Defensoría del Pueblo has intervened in several matters: a class action lawsuit was admitted to address a solid waste crisis in Villagarzón, Putumayo; a request was made to investigate a shooting during an eviction in Palermo, Huila; and a tutela was admitted against Corpoboyacá regarding a project in Villa de Leyva. Furthermore, a court ruled in favor of a councilman in Puerto López, ordering the Municipal Council to provide complete information requests.

In Chile, the Mayor of San Carlos, Rubén Méndez, defended his decision to allow the Socialist Party to use a municipal library, asserting political neutrality despite warnings from the Contraloría that municipal facilities should not be used for political party purposes.
