Boyacá Governor denies claims of financial crisis

Boyacá Governor Carlos Amaya has denied claims that the department is facing a financial crisis or lacks the capacity to secure new credit. Responding to criticisms from opposition leader Rodrigo Rojas, Amaya asserted that the department maintains a stable fiscal situation.

Amaya stated that while the administration is exploring alternative funding sources—such as releasing approximately $70,000 million in frozen royalties—the option to seek new loans remains available if necessary. The controversy arose after Rojas suggested that the decision not to seek Assembly authorization for new debt was due to the department's inability to assume more debt or a potential unfavorable risk rating.
