Boyko Borisov announces GERB will only join leading coalitions

GERB leader Boyko Borisov announced that the party will no longer participate in political coalitions or assemblies unless it holds a leading role and can implement its specific right-wing, centrist, and conservative programs. Borisov stated that if these conditions are not met, the party will remain in the opposition.

During a briefing, Borisov criticized the current government's handling of economic stability, urging the Prime Minister to focus on national security and controlling rising prices. He specifically highlighted increasing costs for fuel and electricity, as well as potential hikes in gas prices, blaming regulators for insufficient oversight.

In response to the current political landscape, GERB plans to establish a ‘shadow cabinet’ consisting of 18 ministers and young professionals. Regarding the upcoming presidential elections, Borisov noted that the party is not participating in the campaign, as he has not identified a candidate capable of serving as a unifying national leader.
