Boyle Heights residents receive aid following Lineage warehouse fire
The community of Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles continues to manage the aftermath of the Lineage Logistics warehouse fire, which occurred on June 17. The blaze caused significant food spoilage, resulting in foul odors and pest issues in the surrounding area.
To assist affected residents, an expanded eligibility map has been released to determine access to recovery resources. Support is divided into three zones based on proximity to the warehouse. Available assistance includes housing vouchers for short-term hotel stays via Airbnb, grocery vouchers for Food4Less and Kroger, air purifiers, air conditioning units, N95 masks, bottled water, and fly traps. Some zones also qualify for cash assistance and utility credits through the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power or Southern California Edison.
In a separate development, a new community park has opened at Malabar Street Elementary School. As part of the Community School Parks program, the site provides recreational space for local families outside of school hours. City officials noted the park's importance as the neighborhood continues to recover from the warehouse fire.
