BOYNEXTDOOR faces backlash over unsanitary concept photos

The K-pop boy group BOYNEXTDOOR has sparked mixed reactions following the release of concept photos for their ‘[HOME: DELUXE] HAZE Version’. Unlike traditional polished K-pop imagery, these photos utilize a gritty, unconventional setting featuring public bathroom stalls.

The imagery intentionally depicts unsanitary conditions, including dirty floors, scattered trash, and visible toilet water, to create a disoriented and chaotic atmosphere. The styling and lighting aim to convey a ‘haze’ aesthetic, suggesting themes of intoxication or the aftermath of a party.

Fan responses on social media have been divided. Some followers expressed shock and distaste for the ‘musty’ and ‘unsanitary’ setting, while others defended the choice, praising the cinematic storytelling and the raw, unconventional approach to the group’s concept.
