BOYNEXTDOOR's Myung Jae-hyun apologizes for comments regarding Lee Kwang-soo

Myung Jae-hyun, a member of the K-pop group BOYNEXTDOOR, has issued an apology following controversial remarks regarding actor Lee Kwang-soo's fan communication style.

During a recent live broadcast on the fan community platform Weverse, Myung commented on Lee Kwang-soo's ability to engage with fans on the paid communication platform Bubble. Myung described Lee's ability to attract fans as an incredible talent, using the phrase “customer attraction ability.” He further noted that he found it difficult to use such platforms because he does not view fans as “customers.”

The comments drew criticism from some netizens who argued that the term “customer” implies that fans are merely sources of revenue and suggested the remark could mischaracterize Lee's relationship with his supporters.

In his apology, Myung clarified that his intention was to express admiration and a desire to learn from Lee's successful engagement. He stated, “I thought Lee Kwang-soo's fan communication was cool and I wanted to learn from him, but I made a mistake in the process of leaving the message.” He expressed regret for the potential harm caused to his senior colleague and promised to be more careful with his language in the future.
