Boys in Šiškovci recover lost wayside cross from Biđ River
Five boys from Šiškovci—Ivano, Juraj, Duje, Bepo, and Šimun—successfully recovered a wayside cross that had been missing for over three years. The religious symbol was located in the mud and water of the Biđ River between Cerna and Šiškovci, made visible due to an exceptionally low water level.
The group spent approximately 45 minutes working together to pull the cross from the riverbed to the shore. Following the recovery, Josip Štorek, the Mayor of Cerna Municipality, announced that the boys would be appropriately rewarded for their bravery, persistence, and respect for the local spiritual heritage.
The wayside cross is considered a significant cultural and spiritual symbol in Croatia, traditionally placed along roadsides.
