Bozankaya delivers first metro set for Istanbul's 100-vehicle project
Bozankaya has delivered the first metro set as part of a contract to provide 100 vehicles for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. This project aims to modernize urban transport and strengthen the city's rail system.
The new trains are designed with GoA2 level semi-automatic operation infrastructure. Each set measures 88.2 meters in length and has a passenger capacity of 1,366 under AW4 conditions. The vehicles feature ergonomic interior designs, advanced sound insulation, and optimized space usage to handle high passenger density.
To support sustainable and accessible transit, the trains include dedicated areas for passengers with disabilities, as well as compartments for bicycles and scooters. The delivery marks the beginning of a major phase in upgrading Istanbul's metropolitan rail network with high-capacity, energy-efficient rolling stock.
