Bozcaada celebrates first local olive oil production at Zeytin 360 festival

The Zeytin 360 International Olive Summit and Harvest Festival concluded in Bozcaada and Ezine, aiming to preserve the olive and olive oil culture of the Northern Aegean. The event featured scientific panels, tasting sessions, and demonstrations of new agricultural technologies.

A historic milestone occurred in Bozcaada as olive oil was produced on the island for the first time using a portable pressing system. This allowed for the creation and tasting of the season’s first fresh olive oil from locally harvested olives.

Discussions at the festival addressed the future of olive production, including climate adaptation strategies, smart farming technologies, integrated cultivation, and breeding studies. Additionally, a demonstration was held for a new generation of olive harvesting machines specifically developed for Turkish olive groves.
