Bozcaada search underway for missing spearfishing diver

A large-scale search and rescue operation is underway in the Bozcaada district of Çanakkale for Uğur Savaş, a 46-year-old man who went missing while spearfishing. Savaş, who had traveled from Bursa with his family, entered the sea near Sulubahçe at approximately 05:30. His companion reported him missing after he failed to resurface, prompting an emergency call at 11:42.

The Çanakkale Governor's Office confirmed that the Coast Guard Command is coordinating the efforts. The search involves two Coast Guard boats, a diving team, and an aircraft dispatched from İzmir to provide aerial support. To improve the effectiveness of underwater searches, a side-scan sonar device has been deployed from Çanakkale to scan the seabed in the area where the diver was last seen.
