Bulgarian athletes win two bronze medals at European Athletics Championships

Bulgarian athletes secured two bronze medals at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham.

In the men's long jump, Bozhidar Saraboyukov claimed bronze with a decisive sixth attempt of 8.26 meters. Despite challenging weather conditions and strong headwinds reaching 3 m/s, Saraboyukov secured the podium finish, marking Bulgaria's first men's outdoor European medal in 28 years. The event was won by Greece's Miltiadis Tentoglou with a jump of 8.44 meters.

In the women's triple jump, Aleksandra Nacheva also earned a bronze medal with a jump of 14.40 meters. Her performance secured her place on the podium under difficult atmospheric conditions. Fellow Bulgarian athlete Gabriela Petrova finished in 11th place with a result of 13.75 meters. The triple jump competition saw gold awarded to Italy's Daria person, while Belgium's Saliha Gies took silver.
