BP BUMN maintains Perum status for state-owned enterprises
The State-Owned Enterprise Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN) has announced that the plan to transform Perum (Public Corporations) into Persero (Limited Liability Companies) has been halted. Muhammad Khoerur Roziqin, Director of Management at BP BUMN, stated that the current leadership directive is to maintain the Perum status for these entities.
The decision to retain the Perum status is based on the social impact and the specific public service mandates these companies hold. Officials noted that converting them into Persero companies would prioritize profit-seeking, which could conflict with their primary mission of serving the Indonesian public.
Under Law Number 16 of 2025, 99% of Perum BUMN shares are held by Danantara, while BP BUMN retains a 1% Series A stake. Despite this structure, the companies remain 100% government-owned through BP BUMN, with the goal of increasing efficiency while fulfilling their core public service mandates.
