BPC-157 peptide research and regulatory status

BPC-157, a man-made peptide consisting of 15 amino acids derived from a protective protein in gastric juice, is a subject of significant interest in research and biohacking circles. While studies in animals and cells have explored its stability and resistance to enzyme breakdown, the compound remains unapproved for human use by major regulatory bodies, including the FDA, the European Medicines Agency, and Health Canada.

Due to its status, BPC-157 is classified as an unapproved substance. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) prohibits its use for competitive athletes under the S0 Non-Approved Substances category, a ban also enforced by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.

In research and community settings, common protocols involve subcutaneous injections, often ranging from 250 to 500 mcg daily for durations of 4 to 8 weeks. While subcutaneous administration is the dominant route for systemic goals like tendon and ligament healing, oral administration offers a different physiological path.
