BPCL launches Xtreme Weather Grade Diesel for Indian Army

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has introduced a next‑generation “Xtreme Weather Grade (XWG) Diesel” developed together with the Indian Army. The fuel is engineered to operate in extreme sub‑zero conditions, with a pour point of –42 °C and a flash point around 50 °C, and is intended to improve both vehicle performance and troop endurance in high‑altitude, cold environments.

BPCL Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Khanna highlighted a robust supply chain that moves the diesel from the Bina refinery to strategic storage points such as Bathinda, ensuring uninterrupted delivery to front‑line units. Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth called the product a “real game‑changer” and a showcase of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, underscoring the collaboration between the armed forces and domestic industry as a strategic necessity.
