Bper Banca highlights 300 million euro Blue Economy portfolio in Genoa
During the 66th Genoa International Boat Show, Bper Banca executives highlighted the strategic importance of the Blue Economy. Nicola Porcari, head of structured finance at Bper Corporate & Investment Banking, announced that the bank manages a portfolio of approximately 300 million euros dedicated to shipping and nautical enterprises. He noted that Genoa serves as a vital hub for the bank’s specialized team focusing on shipping, nautical sectors, and port logistics.
Eliana Chessa, head of the Research, Innovation and Studies Office at Bper Banca, emphasized that the Blue Economy is a critical component of the national economy. She stated that in Italy, the sector generates 76 billion euros in direct added value, representing over 3% of the national GDP, with a total impact approaching 11% when including indirect contributions. Chessa identified Liguria as a leading model in Italy due to its high percentage of added value from the maritime sector.
