BPI integrates Google Pay for contactless transactions

BPI has announced support for Google Pay, allowing customers to link their Debit Mastercard cards to Google Wallet for contactless tap-to-pay transactions. The integration is available for BPI Debit, Omni, and Free+ cards, enabling use at contactless terminals, mobile apps, and online checkouts via Android phones and wearables.

The service utilizes multi-layered security, including encryption and authentication, to ensure card details are not shared with merchants. To enroll, users must add their card details to the Google Wallet app on an NFC-enabled Android device and verify the link using a one-time SMS password. This rollout aligns with the increasing trend toward cashless payments in Southeast Asia.
