BPJPH issues new regulations for imported halal products

The Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) has issued Regulation Number 4 of 2026 regarding the assurance of conformity for foreign halal products entering Indonesia. The regulation serves as a guideline for the implementation of halal verification for foreign products that enter, circulate, and are traded within Indonesian territory.

BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan stated that the regulation aims to provide legal certainty for both consumers and businesses. By establishing clear rules for the Halal Product Assurance (JPH) obligations on imported goods, the agency intends to protect consumers' rights to know the halal status of products while providing businesses with clear compliance requirements. The regulation is based on the principles of protection, legal certainty, accountability, transparency, effectiveness, efficiency, and professionalism as mandated by Law Number 33 of 2014.
