BPJPH promotes halal certification to boost Indonesian tourism
Ahmad Haikal Hasan, head of the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), has encouraged Indonesian business owners to obtain halal certification to enhance the competitiveness of the nation's tourism industry.
Hasan noted that providing halal products is essential for offering inclusive services to a diverse global traveler base. He specifically highlighted Bali as a key destination where halal certification is increasingly relevant due to the high volume of international visitors. The agency is providing guidance and oversight to ensure businesses in these areas apply for and display official halal labels.
Beyond religious requirements, Hasan stated that halal certification is becoming a universal standard associated with quality, hygiene, health, traceability, and responsible production processes. The BPJPH is urging businesses that already hold certification to display labels prominently to ensure transparency and consumer confidence.
