BPJS Kesehatan receives Rp 20 trillion government injection to cover Rp 14 trillion gap
BPJS Kesehatan has reported a cashflow gap of approximately Rp 14 trillion in its Social Security Fund (DJS) for Health. As of September 2026, contribution income reached roughly Rp 118 trillion, while benefit costs rose to Rp 132 trillion.
This deficit is attributed to the increasing utilization of health services by National Health Insurance (JKN) participants, particularly for high-cost catastrophic diseases such as heart disease and cancer. To address this, the Indonesian government, under President Prabowo Subianto, has provided a Rp 20 trillion injection of funds. This support aims to stabilize the DJS Kesehatan and ensure that payments to healthcare facilities continue to operate normally.
