BPJS Ketenagakerjaan expands PEKA program to boost economic independence of beneficiaries in Indonesia

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan held a socialization event in Maluku, led by branch head Heru Siswanto, to introduce the Pemberdayaan Ekonomi dan Kemandirian Penerima Manfaat (PEKA) program. The initiative aims to help pension and survivor benefit recipients develop productive businesses, improve entrepreneurship skills, and generate sustainable income.

In Sulawesi Maluku, the agency organized PEKA Batch II on 5 August 2026 in Makassar. The ceremony was opened by regional head Suci Rahmad together with provincial labour officials. Twenty‑nine participants, who have re‑activated their Jaminan Hari Tua (JHT) contributions, received training on financial literacy, small‑business management, and barista skills, with guidance from Ade Sri Rahayu, owner of the venue. Both events underscore BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s effort to turn social‑security benefits into a foundation for economic self‑reliance.
