BPJS Ketenagakerjaan expands worker protection and launches economic‑empowerment program in Indonesia

Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar visited a worker in Denpasar who is undergoing long‑term treatment after a 2024 workplace accident. He stressed that the incident, which cost 1.7 billion rupiah, was fully covered by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and urged all employers and employees to keep their BPJS participation active.

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan also announced the rollout of Program PEKA (Pemberdayaan Ekonomi dan Kemandirian). In partnership with Bank NTB Syariah, the scheme provides training, financial‑literacy support and seed capital to 52 beneficiaries – the heirs of deceased workers in Nusa Tenggara Barat – to help them rebuild productive livelihoods and achieve economic independence.
