BPM PC STRAND launches Moldova’s first prestressed concrete strand factory

BPM PC STRAND, located in Chisinau, has become Moldova’s sole producer of prestressed concrete strand. Established in 2023, the facility has an annual production capacity of 19,000 tonnes.

The project involved total investments exceeding €13 million, including initial costs and working capital. The development was supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) through the EU4Business programme and has resulted in the creation of 45 new jobs.

The company exports its entire production to 18 international markets, with its largest clients located in Romania, the Czech Republic, and the United States. Other significant markets include Poland and Serbia.

In terms of sustainability, the factory operates a 600-kilowatt photovoltaic power plant and plans to install an energy storage system with a 12.6 megawatt-hour capacity. The company has also developed an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) to document the environmental impact of its products.
