BPMA and LEMIGAS test quality of community oil wells in Aceh
The Aceh Oil and Gas Management Agency (BPMA) has partnered with the Oil and Gas Institute (LEMIGAS) to conduct comprehensive crude assay testing on oil from community-operated wells. Sampling was carried out across several regions, including Bireuen, North Aceh, East Aceh, and the Pangkalan Susu area.
The laboratory analysis will evaluate critical parameters such as API gravity, sulfur content, True Boiling Point (TBP) distillation, Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP), viscosity, Basic Sediment and Water (BS&W), and hydrocarbon profiles. This data-driven approach aims to shift the management of community oil from a volume-based focus to one based on technical characteristics and economic value.
According to BPMA officials, the results of these quality tests will serve as the technical foundation for proposing oil prices to the Indonesian Crude Price (ICP) Team. This initiative is part of a broader effort to establish transparent, data-based governance and accelerate the legalization of community oil wells in accordance with energy ministry regulations.
