BPOM shuts producer after MinyaKita oil found smelling of kerosene

The Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) has ordered the closure of PT Kusuma Mukti Remaja (KMR), a producer located in Karanganyar, Central Java, after discovering that its 'MinyaKita' cooking oil products smelled like kerosene or diesel.

Laboratory testing confirmed the products failed to meet safety standards. The contaminated oil was part of the Government Food Reserve (CPP) aid package, which had already been distributed to 1,203 beneficiary families in the Kismantoro District of Wonogiri Regency.

BPOM has halted the distribution of the products and secured remaining stock at the production facility. While the agency has imposed administrative sanctions, the police are handling potential criminal investigations regarding the violation. BPOM officials have urged the public to be vigilant and avoid using any cooking oil that exhibits abnormal odors.
