BQP and Modovolo launch quantum-inspired software to speed drone design

BQP, a provider of quantum‑accelerated simulation software, announced the integration of its BQPhy platform into the design pipeline of Modovolo, a manufacturer of high‑performance drones. The quantum‑inspired solver runs thousands of simulations simultaneously on existing HPC/GPU hardware, compressing what would normally take days into a fraction of the time and eliminating the traditional trial‑and‑error bottleneck in aerospace and defense engineering.

The collaboration produced a new, patent‑pending 3D‑printed propeller design that maximises flight time and payload while reducing cost. Modovolo’s CEO Justin Call said the previous optimisation process required weeks of compute and often got trapped in local minima, whereas the new approach delivers radically optimized geometries quickly. BQP founder and CEO Abhishek Chopra highlighted that the breakthrough is not a marginal speed gain for a single simulation but a total expansion of design‑space exploration, enabling faster physical testing and scalable future designs.
