BQP secures investment from IBM Ventures to expand physics simulation platform
BQP, a physics acceleration startup based in Syracuse, New York, has received a strategic investment from IBM Ventures. This funding brings the company’s total investment to $8 million, with participation from Venn10 Capital and Monta Vista Capital.
BQP intends to use the capital to transition its BQPhy platform from engineering design into operational deployments, scale its go-to-market capabilities, and expand its reach beyond the aerospace and defense sectors. The company reported significant growth since its 2025 seed round, including an eightfold increase in contracted and committed revenue, a tripling of its customer base, and a 20-fold increase in platform users.
The BQPhy platform is designed to address inefficiencies in classical physics solvers, which BQP claims leave approximately 85% of a GPU’s floating-point capacity idle due to memory access constraints. The platform features QuantumNOW, which is currently operational on existing CPU and GPU infrastructure, and QuantumMAX, a quantum-native solver currently under development for heterogeneous execution. BQP’s technology is already being utilized in aerospace and defense applications, including work with the U.S. Space Force and the Air Force Research Laboratory.
