BR-040 highway records nearly 450,000 speeding violations

The BR-040 highway, specifically the stretch between Belo Horizonte and Juiz de Fora, recorded nearly 450,000 speeding violations during the first eight months of this year. Data from the concessionaire EPR Via Mineira shows that 449,874 instances were identified across 68 monitoring points between January and August.

Significant speed discrepancies were noted in several locations. In Nova Lima, a vehicle was recorded at 192 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. In Juiz de Fora, a driver reached 146 km/h in a section with a 40 km/h limit, representing a 265 percent excess. Other notable violations occurred in Cristiano Otoni and Carandaí.

In response to these figures, EPR Via Mineira is conducting educational campaigns through September 25 to promote road safety, focusing on topics such as signaling, seat belt use, and driver fatigue.
