BR-101 highway maintenance causes traffic disruptions in Brazil
Maintenance and expansion works on the BR-101 highway in Espíritodo Santo, Brazil, are causing traffic disruptions in several locations.
In São Mateus, Ecovias Capixaba is conducting repairs on the expansion joint of the bridge over the Rio Cricaré at km 64. The work is scheduled to continue until Saturday (22), with traffic controlled via a ‘stop and go’ (Pare e Siga) system between 8:30 and 16:00. These repairs are essential for the structural safety and functionality of the bridge.
Additionally, a total closure is scheduled for km 239 in Fundão to facilitate controlled rock fragmentation as part of highway duplication works. This intervention involves the use of explosives to remove approximately 1,697.5 m³ of rock and is expected to last about 1.5 hours. Drivers are advised to plan their trips accordingly, as weather conditions may impact the schedule.
