BR-101 safety works discussed by Senator Amin and Transport Minister

Senator Esperidião Amin met with Transport Minister George Santoro to discuss urgent infrastructure improvements for the BR-101 highway in Santa Catarina, specifically targeting the Morro dos Cavalos section in Palhoça. This stretch is noted for having one of the highest rates of fatal accidents in Brazil.

The project involves the construction of tunnels to increase safety. According to Minister Santoro, the ratification of an agreement allowing Motiva (formerly CCR) to execute the works could occur by late August or early September, pending a decision from the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT).

Senator Amin is actively pressuring the director-general of ANTT to finalize the deliberation within August to establish a formal execution schedule and timeline. While a R$ 4 billion package is discussed for Morro dos Cavalos, total infrastructure investments for the BR-101 in the region could reach R$ 19 billion.
