BR-116 highway accident reported in Jaguaruana, Ceará

A serious accident was recorded on the BR-116 highway in Jaguaruana, Ceará. While official information regarding victims has not yet been released, the incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding road safety in the state.

This event occurs amidst significant federal investment in the region's infrastructure. Under the Novo PAC program, the DNIT is currently executing duplication works on a 22.1 km stretch of the BR-116 between Pacajus and Timbaúba dos Marinheiros. These projects, costing over R$ 289 million, aim to improve safety and the flow of cargo between the Fortaleza Metropolitan Region and the interior.

Additionally, improvements are being made to the BR-304 to strengthen logistics corridors connecting Ceará to Rio Grande do Norte. The Ministry of Transport also plans to include sections of the BR-116 and BR-304 in future private concession auctions once essential duplication and restoration works are completed.
