BR-163 highway undergoes major construction and traffic changes
Ongoing infrastructure projects on the BR-163 highway are causing significant traffic changes across several Brazilian regions. In Mato Grosso do Sul, Motiva Pantanal is conducting expansion, conservation, and maintenance works. These interventions include stop-and-go traffic systems in multiple municipalities such as Sonora, Rio Verde de Mato Grosso, São Gabriel do Oeste, Campo Grande, Nova Alvorada do Sul, Juti, Itaquiraí, and Mundo Novo. Additionally, a temporary detour is in place in Dourados between kilometers 264 and 272.
In Sinop, Mato Grosso, Nova Rota do Oeste has implemented new traffic flow alterations to facilitate the construction of viaducts at km 831 and km 833. At km 831, vehicle flow will move to the upper part of the viaduct to allow for structural readequation. Near km 833, an existing U-turn is closed, requiring drivers to use the next available turn at km 834. These works involve earthmoving and the execution of sub-base and base layers.
