BR-163 highway wins Brazil’s most comfortable road award

The BR-163 highway in Mato Grosso has been named Brazil’s most comfortable highway for the second consecutive year at the IRI 2026 Awards. The specific stretch between Lucas do Rio Verde and Sorriso, managed by the concessionaire Nova Rota do Oeste, secured first place in the Implementation and Duplication category.

Additionally, the segment between Sorriso and Sinop earned second place in both the Implementation and Duplication and the Restoration and Recovery categories. The awards, presented by the German company Moba Latam during the Paving Expo in São Paulo, recognize road safety and pavement regularity.

Nova Rota do Oeste also received a Mention of Excellence in Applied Infrastructure Innovation from SITECH Brasil and Trimble, highlighting the highway’s high level of digital construction technology usage.
