Brazil adjusts toll operations on Imigrantes and BR-163 highways

The electronic free‑flow toll gate at km 29 on the Rodovia dos Imigrantes in São Bernardo do Campo will be moved after residents of the Pós‑Balsa area objected to paying the new R$ 20.30 charge for local trips. The São Paulo state transport agency (Artesp) ordered the relocation to a point nearer the Serra section before the system’s planned launch on 1 August, and residents will receive a temporary exemption once they register.

Separately, the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) approved a 4.26 % increase in tolls on the BR‑163 corridor between Sinop (MT) and Miritituba (PA). New rates, effective midnight on 20 March, raise the passenger‑car charge to R$ 10.80 (from R$ 10.40) and set vehicle‑type tariffs based on axle count, with a nine‑axle truck now paying R$ 705.60 at the Trairão plaza. The adjustment reflects the IPCA inflation index and is expected to raise freight costs on a key agribusiness route.
