Construction has begun on the duplication of the BR-232 highway in Pernambuco, Brazil. The initial phase focuses on a 28.8 km stretch between São Caetano and Belo Jardim, representing an investment of R$ 249 million.
State Deputy Débora Almeida credited the project to parliamentary efforts within the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco (Alepe) to secure necessary credit operations. These funds were made available following approval facilitated by Governor Raquel Lyra. The project aims to improve mobility, traffic safety, and economic development for the Agreste and Sertão regions by reducing travel times and attracting new businesses.
Discussions regarding further improvements are ongoing, including a planned public hearing in Belo Jardim to discuss extending the works to Arcoverde.
