BR-364 highway blocked by Noke Ko’î indigenous protest in Acre

The BR-364 highway remains blocked at kilometer 66 in Cruzeiro do Sul, Acre, due to a demonstration by the Noke Ko’î indigenous people. The protest, organized by the Associação Geral do Povo Noke Ko’î (AGPN), is located in front of the Katukina Indigenous Territory.

The AGPN states that the mobilization aims to demand the maintenance of access roads to the indigenous villages. According to the association, these access points have been in precarious condition for over four years, hindering the movement of families, children, the elderly, and students, as well as the transport of food and access for healthcare professionals.

While the AGPN previously requested repairs from the Acre Department of Highways (Deracre), they claim they have received no confirmation that the promised work has been executed. The association described the protest as peaceful and organized, noting that they are maintaining priority passage for ambulances and emergency vehicles.
