BR-381 highway incidents in Minas Gerais block traffic

On July 7, 2026 a truck (carreta) lost control on the BR‑381 near Nova Era in central Minas Gerais, striking a protective wall and ending up straddling the roadway at km 323. No other vehicles were involved and the road was reopened at about 23:20.

Two days later, on July 9, 2026, a passenger bus traveling from Santos to Lambari caught fire near km 935 in Extrema, southern Minas Gerais. All 46 passengers escaped without injuries, but the blaze fully blocked the Fernão Dias segment of the BR‑381. Fire‑fighting crews and police cleared the incident, restoring traffic on two lanes by the afternoon.

Both events caused temporary highway closures but resulted in no reported injuries.
